Your account comes with 500 free ads for 6 months. After your 6 months is up, if you want to place more ads or continue listing the ads already created, you must choose a subscription before activating any ads.
Next, click
“Add A Classified”.
Find the correct category for the item you are
adding. If a category doesn’t exist for
what you want to add, create your listing in "Miscellaneous" email us. We will
review your request and either add a new category or suggest a different
category.
Enter the details for your classified. Ad duration sets the number of days your ad
will be displayed. Currently, the
longest you can post and ad for is 180 days. Don’t forget to set this box for the proper
number of days, the default is 1 day.
Pictures And Video - If you know HTML code you can click the “Show
Code” box under the description and use it to insert pictures into your ad from
a URL location. If not, don’t worry,
later we will insert up to 5 pictures for free. Another easy option if you want to insert a picture from somewhere on the WEB, is to click the picture icon at the right, above the description box and input the URL of the picture.
Example: Search Google for rabbit images. You will see some images of rabbits. Right click the one you want and click "Copy Image Location". Now, go to the ad you are creating, click the image icon above the ad description. Delete the "http://" and right click the empty address bar and select paste. Then click OK and your image will appear in the box.
This is the picture I found. The image location I copied by right clicking the image look like this: http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:aZlGwOwLkEgJ::www.thepawblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/cute_rabbit.jpg. This image location is what is pasted into the address bar of the add photo box.
The source code looks like this: <img src="http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:aZlGwOwLkEgJ::www.thepawblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/cute_rabbit.jpg">
Video can also be added. You will need to post your videos on You Tube or your own website first. Be aware of copyright violations when you choose photos. If you are selling an item from a manufacturer, you shouldn't have any problems using their stock photos. If you are using someone else's personal photos or say, artwork someone is selling, you will need to get permission from that person before using their photo.
After you have created your description,
scroll down to the price box and enter the price you are selling the item for, do not use the $ sign.
Then enter the quantity of the items you have
for sale.
Enter the shipping price you will charge
(check USPS, UPS or other carrier’s rates online. USPS is usually a great and inexpensive way to go), condition of
the item, either new or used, and manufacturer if applicable.
You can then either spend a little money for
additional ad features by clicking the boxes below, or just skip it. You must have
money in your account to add extra features. A new account comes with $50 to get you started.
The hit counter is free and lets you see how
many people have viewed your ad which is helpful but not necessary.
The Buy Now Option box is available if you
have Pay Pal. This allows other users
with Pay Pal to click this button and send money directly to your Pay Pal
account, which is very convenient for sales outside your local area and
eliminates the risk of bounced or forged checks. If you do take checks, be sure the
check clears before sending out merchandise. There are a lot of honest people out there but also a lot of
dishonest people, too, and even money orders and cashiers checks can be forged. When you put the
price in the Buy Now box, make sure you add shipping in the price if the item is only available by delivery. If you want to give to option to have the item shipped or locally picked up, only list the price of the item and use the extra cost option for the shipping amount. The amount in the Buy Now box is what the customer
will pay so if you forget to ad shipping to the product price, the customer
will not pay for it. You will have to
contact them or go to Pay Pal and send them a bill for the shipping if it’s not
included in the price.
Enter your Pay Pal ID so when the customer
tries to pay you, it goes to your Pay Pal account. Make sure you enter the correct Pay
Pal account number. Example: jsmith@paypal.com.
The extra shipping box can be used a few different ways:
1. Local Or Delivery - The item costs $10.00 and is available for local pickup. $10 appears in the Buy Now box. You also want to have the item available for delivery so, we'll say shipping to anywhere in the US costs $5.00. Use the Extra Shipping box and put 0.00 in it. Instruct the customer that if they want the item shipped, they need to input $5.00 in the extra shipping box before they click, Buy Now.
2. Extra Services - The item costs $10.00 and is only available to be shipped. Shipping is $5.00 and is added to the item cost and input into the Buy Now box as $15.00. Now, nobody can pay for just the item, they have to pay for the shipping also if they use Pay Pal. Let's say you want to offer overnight service or insurance. Instruct the buyer what the price will be for each service and input 0.00. The customer will then have the option to choose what extra services they would like and input the dollar amount of the service they want in the Extra Shipping box. When they click Buy Now, the amount of the two boxes will be added and that is what they will pay into your Pay Pal account.
3. Shipping For Multiple Items - We can
then use the extra shipping box for multiple items. Instruct the buyer
that if they want multiple items, shipping will be more per item.
Let's say for each additional item, shipping will be $3.00. The
customer wants 5 items. The customer inputs 5 into the Quantity box, then inputs the extra shipping into the shipping box ($3.00 X 5 = $15.00). When they click Buy Now, their total price with extra shipping is combined and is paid to your Pay Pal account.
Last, click post classified.
Your ad is not
active yet. If you have images,
this is a good time to add them.
Click the “Click here to add images for
classified.” Option. At this screen you
will be able to browse your computer for images to insert in your ad. You get 5 free images, after that it's $0.20 per image. We allow up to 30 images per ad. You have to have some money in your account
to add more images. After you have uploaded your pictures, close the window. You will be back at the previous
screen.
At this point, you need to click, “Click here
to manage classifieds.” Here you can
edit your ad or pictures if needed, but you need to click the “Make Active”
option at the bottom right end of the options at the bottom of the ad. After you click this, your ad is active and
can be viewed by other users.
If
you plan on having more than one item for sale, click the “Edit Your Store”
button in the Member Options box on the left of the page. Input the required information to create an
informative description of what your business is all about, and upload logos if
you like. When a customer views one of
your ads, they will be able to view your store. When someone clicks "Seller's Store", all your items will be displayed. Your store name will appear and the viewer can click "About Store" to view your store information.
We
will take the stores that look the best and seem to offer the best value for
the customer, and place these on the front page in the premium stores box. This will help anyone coming to the site see
your store immediately, and increase the traffic to your store and items.
All aspects of your account can be managed with the options in the “Member Options” box on the left of the page. If you have any questions or problems with your ads or store, please contact us for assistance.
